Data Protection & Privacy Law and Data Ethics

Our most recent work on this area includes the hosting of an expert roundtable on the UK Data Protection Bill in October 2017 which included legal academic experts, practitioners, civil servants, and civil society.

The Centre’s Director also contributed in October 2017 to the Joint Report on Data Management and Use: Governance in the 21st Century by the Royal Society and the British Academy which published her provocation paper on: ‘Greater power should come with greater accountability: Revisiting the roles of data controllers and processors’.

The ILPC has also hosted a number of events that have addressed legal and policy developments and challenges in the areas of data protection and privacy law and data ethics.
